Anna Maddern
I left St Ives Comprehensive School in 1999 with 9 GCSEs and started an Advanced GNVQ in Art & Design at Penwith College. I left without finishing the course because I could not afford the equipment and over the next few years worked in various retail establishments in different roles. In early 2003 I decided that I wanted a change of career. The local Connexions office put me in touch with Ultra Work Based Learning. They arranged an interview for me at Penwith District Council in early April 2003 and a few days later I was appointed to the position of Personnel Trainee.
In January 2004 I was promoted to Personnel Administration Officer and in May 2004 I was promoted again to Personnel Training & Administration Officer. I completed my Level 2 Apprenticeship in Administration with Ultra in April 2004.
My career aim is to remain within the Personnel Department at Penwith District Council and to progress towards a Personnel Management position.
