Laura Marie Worthington

Laura left Holsworthy Community college with excellent GCSE grades and went on to achieve ‘AS’ levels at College.  Laura decided that the academic route was not what she really wanted and also travelling to and from college, a three hour journey a day, also impacted on her decision to look for work based learning. Whilst on a ‘Choices for Chances’ course she started working in Rainbow Day Nursery in Bude.  Laura achieved the Advanced Apprenticeship in Early Years Care & Education and progressed to the ILM NVQ Level 3 Apprenticeship in Management.

Apprenticeship training helped Laura immensely in her career and enabled her to progress mush more quickly to her present position as senior nursery nurse.  The scheme has given her learning flexibility, realistic experience and also being paid whilst learning, something which could not have been done on a full time college course.
