Kimberley Barradell
I left Penair School in 1998 with 9 GCSEs and went to FE College to take an Intermediate GNVQ in Leisure & Tourism. I left before completing the course because I wanted to ‘get out into the real world’ and over the next couple of years, I worked my way up to the position of head waitress in a local restaurant. In October 2003, I decided to make a career change and attended an Open Day at The Headland Hotel, Newquay and was offered the position of Trainee Reservationist a few days later. I started my Level 2 Apprenticeship in Hospitality Reception with Ultra Work Based Learning in March 2004,completing the qualification in November 2004 after only 9 months.
I am currently working towards my Level 3 Apprenticeship in Hospitality Supervision. Recently I have taken on additional responsibilities within the Reservations team including the supervision and training of new staff members and covering for the Front Office Manager in her absence. I am enjoying these new challenges and want to progress to the position of Reservations Supervisor or perhaps move across to the Reception Department as a Shift Leader.
