Robert Keast
Robert started his training at Simpson Brothers Ltd in Truro in March 2001. He had left Richard Lander School in 1998 with disappointingly low GCSE grades and over the next 12 months worked in a variety of part-time and temporary jobs including a shoe-shop, warehouse, furniture store and also worked as a waiter at Trelisick Gardens and in the Studio Café.
Following a recommendation from an Ultra Assessor, in July 1999 Robert was taken on by Simpson’s Brothers (Ladies and Menswear) as a trainee retail assistant and has now been with the company 8 years.
From his initial induction Robert proved to be a fast learner always prepared to suggest ideas and when appropriate being capable of their execution. Many of his innovative ideas have been put into practise to the benefit of the business. He has gained an extensive knowledge of the stock coupled with a technical knowledge of goods sold, which has led to Robert becoming a first class salesman. He was personally motivated to learn IT skills and this enabled him to support the business and innovate the company’s administration such as stock records, advertising material and posters. Robert also deputies for the managers at both the Truro and Falmouth branches.
With both the training given by Ultra and the retail knowledge and in store training Robert has received from the experienced members of Simpson’s staff, he is designated to manage his own branch in the not too distant future.
Robert has worked very hard at his studies and gained creditable qualification with Ultra. These include FMA in Retail Operations, FMA in Customer Service, AMA in Retail Operations, AMA in Customer Service and a Certificate in Health and Safety.
