Richard succeeds with a little help from Ultra

Richard receiving his certificateLiskeard student Richard Hill has achieved his first ambition after leaving school - a good full time job - with the help of local company Ultra Training. Ultra, one of the South West’s biggest providers of Apprenticeship training programmes, helped ex-Liskeard School pupil Richard, through the Objective One ‘Apprenticeships – Working with Schools’ programme.

The programme, which aimed to provide a link between school and employment with training, meant that Richard could obtain work experience with vocational training whilst still at school. Ultra found Richard a work placement in his desired career sector, Hospitality, with the Holland Inn at Hatt.

After completing an NVQ level 1 in Hospitality Services the Holland Inn offered Richard full time employment. Keen to continue to add to his skills, Richard will continue training with Ultra on the Learning Agreement programme and ultimately hopes to progress to an Apprenticeship.

Kathy Shumacker, Ultra’s Apprenticeship Co-ordinator said, “I am very pleased for Richard, he has worked hard for his success. Huge credit is also due to his employer, The Holland Inn, who offered to take him on for work experience and now have a young employee keen to learn more skills. I hope Richard reaches his ultimate goal of completing an Apprenticeship with Ultra”.
