05 February 2008
Three Penzance girls, trained by Ultra Work Based Learning, are enjoying the taste of success with Penwith Council. The girls, Alice Le Vine 18, Chloe Pitt 19 and Natasha Mathews 18, have been given the green light by the Council to progress to a level 3 NVQ in Business Administration having successfully achieved their level 2 with Ultra.
Alice who works for the Council’s Sustainable Development department said, “I came to Ultra because both my older brothers got full time jobs with training through Ultra”. Natasha, who works in Housing, Health and Community added, “I didn’t think I could gain anything out of going to college so I came to Ultra because I wanted to learn and get a job at the same time”. Natasha’s job involves, answering telephone enquiries, typing invoices and general administration.
Kerri Mathews from Penwith District Council said, “The Council would like to announce the progression of Alice Le Vine, Natasha Mathews and Chloe Pitt to their NVQ Level 3 in Business Administration, making them the first Council employees to undertake this advanced training through Ultra Work Based Learning. The girls have undertaken a variety of tasks as part of their training whilst gaining on-the-job experience. As a result of the knowledge and skills they have gained, all three have been successfully selected for positions with the Council. On behalf of all our learners, the Council would like to thank Ultra, and in particular Maggi Lutey and John Lobb, for their support in the skills development of our office-based staff.”
Ultra, which has had a presence in Penzance for nearly 20 years, can offer training to NVQ levels 2, 3 and 4 in a wide range of occupations including: Health & Social Care, Childcare & Early Years, Administration & IT, Hair & Beauty, Customer Service and Management.
