HELITOTS AND ULTRA SCORE A FIRST

Staff at the popular Helitots Day Nursery, at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose, have become the first in Cornwall to achieve the CACHE Certificate in Early Years Foundation Stage Practice (EYFS).  The course was delivered in-house by Ultra Training, one of the South West’s largest independent providers of childcare training.

The EYFS framework became statutory for all regulated early years providers in September 2008 and is applicable to all registered childminders, nurseries and out-of-school clubs.

Helitots manager, Janice Price, said: “I am very pleased with all the girls’ hard work and we are now seeing the benefits of the training within the nursery.  We have adapted our practices and now are much more focussed on meeting the specific individual needs of each of our children”. Dot Freeman, Ultra’s specialist tutor who delivered the training added: “They were a great bunch of students and I’m so glad that Helitots at Culdrose have become the first in Cornwall to achieve the qualification”.
